MacDermid’s NiKlad ICE Ultra is designed to combine the hardness and uniformity of electroless nickel deposits with the lubricity and anti-stick properties of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The process produces a composite of electroless nickel phosphorus and occluded sub-micron particles of PTFE, making it suited for applications where low friction and release properties are required.

According to the company, NiKlad ICE Ultra provides a uniform distribution of PTFE particles throughout the plated layer, which maximizes the performance of the coating in wear applications. Deposits contain from 1 to 12 percent by weight incorporated PTFE (3 to 36 percent by volume). The composite is PFOS and PFOA free, and RoHS, ELV and WEEE compliant.
